Abstract

This is one of a series of radiologic manuals, and relates to the eye. The author is connected with a clinic that has studied particularly the effects and uses of radiant energy on the eyes, and has himself contributed to the literature on this subject. The book takes up the use of the x-rays for diagnosis and therapy in ophthalmology. In the first part the following subjects are considered : the localization of intra-ocular foreign bodies and diseases of the eye, orbit, optic nerve and lacrimal passages. Roentgen examinations play only a limited rôle in ophthalmology compared to that in other branches of medicine. Diseases of the eye are usually readily accessible to direct observation, especially if the slit-lamp is used, while the conditions in the orbit surrounded by bone are recognized only with difficulty.
