Abstract

Summary The Church – an Institution of Education? On the Relation Between Personal Development in General, Religious Education and Training for the Religious Profession. On the one hand, theology includes insights into what processes of education including self-development and efforts to support it actually mean. On the other hand, (religious) education itself leads to a transformation of the religion. When religious socialization through family and neighborhood lose of their weight, institutionalized processes of learning play a more important role than they used to.
