Abstract

Hamsters were labelled by tritiated glycine 1,3, 5,7,9, and 17 days after birth. The radioactivity in bone matrix and osteogenic cells was studied. The desmal ossification showed no differences in matrix production patterns in comparison to ossicles and alveole of the mandible. Activity indicating an increased glycine turnover at the bone production site appeared at the same time as osteoid could be recognized in the HE staining.
