Abstract

A method for the determination of β-glucuronidase activity in serum is described. The optimal reaction conditions are established, the accuracy of the method is proved and the normal values ascertained. p-Nitrophenyl-glucuronide serves as the substrate. For the determination only 50–100 μl of serum is necessary. It will be incubated for 5 h at 25°. The method is simple and the color of the liberated p-nitrophenol is in the pH range 9.0–13.0 constant and does not change remarkably within 5 h.
