Abstract

The United States adopted the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) on October 1, 2015, replacing the ninth revision, which was implemented in 1979. However, even as the United States was adopting ICD-10-CM for reporting morbidity data, the World Health Organization (WHO) was developing International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11). When will the United States adopt ICD-11 for reporting the reasons for health care services?
