Abstract

A San Antonio College English professor was disciplined for email communications she sent to colleagues and administrators. In the first email, she contacted administrators about financial aid for a student who was forced to drop her class involuntarily because it wasn’t part of his degree plan. She criticized the college for “disenfranchis[ing] and depriv[ing] students of necessary skills and knowledge to complete all college‐level courses.” Additionally, she noted she had contacted the “Lieutenant Governor, the House Higher Education Committee, and the Senate Education Committee.” The professor admonished the administration to take care of the student and stop passing the buck.
