Abstract

Virginia Tech hired a Black woman as its Director of Upward Bound and Talent Search. A white woman eventually became her supervisor. The director received favorable performance reviews and raises during her time in the role. Her supervisor never disciplined or sanctioned her. Virginia Tech never demoted her, cut her pay, or adjusted her job duties.
