Abstract

The development of technology is increasing rapidly. In this digital era, humans are demanded to be more creative in all fields. Otherwise, human will be left behind by the progress of the times. The internet as one of the references of cyberspace surfers also experienced significant developments. One application that is much preferred is the Tantan application. Tantan application is a matchmaking application. The communication process in the tantan application uses language as its bridge. This application applies some requirements the profile photo should be original, no vulgar photos and no violent elements posted. The interesting thing here is the choice of words which should be appropriate to be used by users to avoid words that can offend other speaker. These dictionaries semantically contain connotative and denotative meanings. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data in this study were taken from the tantan application user conversation. The data collection is done by taking a screenshot of a conversation that will be used as data. The data obtained will be reduced and the data analysis is done in a descriptive way that is describing the results of observations. System filter languange on application tantan have two theories in classifying words. First, euphemisms is words that have implicit meaning to conceal the intention of and to refine said. example: teteh (sister), anak (children), bikin (make), rambut (hair), hotel (hotel), di atas (above), masuk (entrance). Second, desfemisme is words that have value not polite or taboo, example: bego (stupid), hina (despicable).
