Dicranella hookeri(Dicranaceae, Musci), An Addition to the Moss Flora of Continental Africa

Dicranella hookeri (Dicranaceae, Musci), an addition to the moss flora of continental Africa. - Herzogia 26: 169 –174.Dicranella hookeri, a pan-south-temperate species, is recorded for the first time from continental Africa, based on material collected on the Highveld of the Free State and Mpumalanga Provinces of South Africa. Bryum bartramioides, an invalidly published name, is placed in synonymy of Dicranella hookeri. A brief description as well as notes on the ecology and phytogeography of the species are provided and some details of its gametophyte characters are illustrated. The global distribution of D. hookeri is reviewed and mapped.
