e410 www.thelancet.com/oncology Vol 13 October 2012 evidence exists to suggest that DKK1 was better than AFP for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma of 5 cm or smaller. Finally, Shen and colleagues did not assess hepatocellular carcinoma related to hepatitis C virus infection, heavy alcohol consumption, cholangio carcinoma, or metastatic cancer. More studies are needed before DKK1 can be accepted as a diagnostic tool for hepatocellular carcinoma.
