Abstract

We study theoretically the polarization dependence of angular patterns of electrons in double photoionization by randomly oriented systems for both non-resonant and resonant electron emission. The result is applicable in dichroism studies which give information on the electron-electron correlation. We also demonstrate the possibility to extract orientational information in non-resonant x-ray scattering using dichroism. We assume photon beams in mixed polarization states and express the differential cross sections in terms of Stokes parameters.
