Abstract

TiCl2(SO3CF3)2 as a non-corrosive solid catalyst has been applied for the efficient and highly regio- and chemoselective protection of carbonyl groups as their 1,3-dithianes and 1,3-dithiolanes under solvent-free conditions at room temperature in excellent yields.
