Abstract

A 79-year-old woman presented to our hospital with abdominal discomfort. She had no history of traveling abroad but had developed a habit of eating raw fish while working at a fish shop. Colonoscopy revealed a tapeworm whose horizontally long sections were depicted as firmly attached to the transverse colon (Figure A). In distal view, it was also shown to be moving uninterrupted toward/entering the ileocecal valve (Figures B, C). She was treated with a single dose of praziquantel, and had the tapeworm including its scolex removed.
