Abstract

Aromatic (including heterocyclic) compounds having fluorine-containing functional groups (ArX:X=F, OSO 2CF 3, OSO 2F, OCOCF 3) have been prepared in good yields by the diazotization of the corresponding aminoarenes (ArNH 2) and the thermal or photochemical decomposition in situ in fluorine-containing strong acids (HX) with or without bases, or dediazoniation and arenediazonium tetrafluoroborate salts (ArN 2BF 4) in HX-(Base). Novel arenediazonium triflates (ArN 2OTf) have been prepared in good yields by nonaqueous-state diazotization of ArNH 2 in EtOH with isoamyl nitrate in CF 3SO 3H. Decomposition of ArN 2OTf will be also described to afford the corresponding ArOSO 2CF 3. ▪
