Abstract

With the war in their home country waging on, the authors found themselves together in the expressive therapies PhD program at Lesley University—an Israeli Jewish woman and a Palestinian Moslem man. During their studies, they have used the healing powers of the arts and delved together into a journey of self-exploration, from which an interactive theater workshop has emerged. Engaged in the creative process, they spiraled from the private to the public domain, discovering and expressing their own version of the Israeli—Palestinian situation. Their artistic dialogue has deepened and expanded, releasing inner occupied territories, on its way toward nonviolent liberation. They have used this creation as the building block of a workshop, which they delivered together at the Imagine Conference in Israel in April 2006. This article presents some aspects of their work together and a description of some of the workshop.
