Abstract

In light of the June 2022 decision of the Supreme Court of the United States, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, the Journal of Moral Theology invited a number of leading Catholic scholars to address the following question: what needs to change to foster “reasoned reflection and constructive civil dialogue” within Catholic contexts around the issue of abortion? Representing a range of positions on both the Dobbs decision and the question of abortion, each scholar focuses on one or two key changes or clarifications she or he thinks would help shift the discourse in a constructive direction. This introduction provides important contextualizing information for the symposium as well as a summary of the scholarly contributions.
