Abstract

Although dialectical thinking has been the focus of attention for the last thirty years, there is still no simple consensus concerning its definition. On the one hand, dialectical thinking is considered postformal thinking reflecting adult, mature thought [1-4]. On the other hand, this mode of cognition is regarded as an early stage in the phylogenesis or ontogenesis of thinking. For example, binary structure has been considered an elementary structure of a child's thought [5] and a characteristic of thinking in traditional cultures [6].
