Abstract

Important changes in a thick sedimentary series have been observed by gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods in the composition of the normal and branched chain alkane fractions from different levels. They are the result of an evolution by diagenesis after burial, since environmental conditions and original organic material are certainly the same along the series.
