Abstract

The paper presents a new integrated approach to diagnosing the technical condition of industrial equipment (TC of IE) based on the building the system of hierarchical mixed production rules taking account of measurement and expert information. To build a system of hierarchical mixed production rules, two tasks are considered: the development of a formal model for the representation of a system of hierarchical mixed production rules, as well as the evaluation of the usefulness of hierarchical mixed production rules. The hierarchy of mixed production rules consists in ranking the antecedents of the rule, which provide the most detailed and complete description of TC of IE. This leads to reliable conclusions on the presence of certain malfunctions in the equipment, as well as to a reduction in the amount of the knowledge base (KB) that makes the process of searching for rules more efficient. Verification of the proposed approach was carried out using diagnostic data on electrical equipment of the oil refining industry. Compared to the results obtained using existing traditional methods, it was shown that the proposed approach based on a system of hierarchical mixed production rules has excellent characteristics (value, usefulness) in making diagnostic decisions on IE serviceability since it reflects the full comprehensive knowledge obtained from the operational personnel.KeywordsEquipment diagnosticsHierarchical mixed production rulesRule usefulnessMeasurement and expert information
