Abstract

A series of thermal plasma jet images taken by a charge coupled device (CCD) camera were used for the diagnostics of dynamic patterns generated in turbulent flow conditions. These patterns generated in turbulent thermal plasma jets manifest themselves by inhomogeneities of plasma density, temperature, and different dynamical behavior that make these structures visible. The resulting considerable modulation of light emission is analyzed either directly by comparing the successive images or by means of the correlation analysis.
