Abstract

An attempt to use the morphometric georelief analysis for diagnostics and mapping of water erosion-affected soils is presented. Four geometric georelief forms have been tested in various transsections in the homogeneous soil space of haplic chernozems in Pohronska pahorkatina (loess slightly undulated hills) which is affected by water erosion processes. Geometrical forms of the georelief have been constructed by the graphic–numerical way on the base of analytical graphic outputs of these morphometric parameters: null normal curvature of the georelief, null horizontal curvature of the georelief and slope of the georelief in the direction of orthogonal lines. We have tried to find out the extent of water erosion influence on soil properties of recent chernozems in Slovakia. Detailed soil survey and measurements in all geometric georelief forms enabled us to make four degrees of classification of potential water erosion risk of chernozems. Results of our investigations allowed us to conduct mapping of loess chernozems with more accuracy and precision and to propose anti-erosion protection arrangements within sustainable farming.
