Abstract

Introduction: Endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration is the modality of choice for preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic cystic lesions. Cyst fluid CEA and amylase levels are used to discriminate benign from neoplastic cysts. Because the diagnostic yield from cyst fluid analysis is often inadequate, modalities to sample epithelium from the cyst wall are being investigated. Needle puncture of the cyst wall for cytology is not widely practiced due to the potential risks. Aims: To determine the diagnostic yield and safety of EUS-guided cyst wall puncture for the evaluation of pancreatic cystic lesions.
