Abstract

Objective To discuss the diagnostic value of micturition cystourethrography (MCU) to check screening for vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children. Methods 90 cases of urinary tract infection (UTI) children who received treatment in our hospital from July 2010 to December 2011 were selected and applied for examination using both uhrasonography (USG) and MCU methods. All patients received USG to examine upon arrival at the hospital, and were examined by MCU after one week' s control treatment of UTI.Then the detection rates of both methods were compared. Results There were 30 cases (33.33%) of VUR after examination by USG and there were 43 cases (47.78%) of VUR after examination by MCU.The detection rate of MCU was obviously higher than that of USG.The comparison was quite obvious (P< 0.05).Conclusion Using MCU to diagnose VUR in early period could lead to high detection rate, effectively avoiding renal scars and directly influencing the prognosis and outcome of patients diseases. Key words: Urinary tract infection (UTI); Micturition cystourethrography (MCU); Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR)
