Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) combined with cell block on testicular and epididymis lesions. Methods The clinical data of 94 cases of testicular and epididymis lesions were retrospectively analyzed. All cases were diagnosised by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and cell block slice.Compared with pathologic histology, the diagnostic accuracy of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) combined with cell block was analyzed. Results The diagnostic accuracy of FNAC combined with cell block was 96.8%,and the diagnostic accuracy of FNAC was 87.2%.For lesions classification, the diagnostic accuracy of FNAC combined with cell block was 90.4% combined with immunocytochemistry, which was higher than that of FNAC (P < 0.01 ).Conclusions FNAC combined with cell block can greatly improve the diagnostic accordance rate of testicular and epididymis lesions. The lesions classification will be more exact using immunocytochemistry. Key words: Fine needle aspiration cytology; Cell block; Testicular and epididymis lesions
