Abstract

We read the paper from Schmoyer et al1 published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The aim of the study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of noninvasive tests in identifying advanced hepatic fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C virus infection and end-stage renal disease. In a retrospective cohort study, the authors reported receiver operating characteristic, sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values to compare the results of 5 tests including ratio of aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase platelet ratio index, FIB-4 score, fibrosis index score, and King’s score, with biopsy as gold standard.
