Abstract
Objective To compare the value of liquid-based cytology and conventional cytology smears on detection of cervical squamous cell lesions.Methods One thousand and two hundred women were detected by cervical liquid-based cytology and conventional cytology smear screening from Oct.2009 to Oct.2012,of which positive cases were detected by colposcopy and biopsy as the gold standard as a positive control.The diagnostic value of the liquid-based cytology on cervical lesions was assessed.Results The positive detection rate of ASCUS/A-GUS and above lesions was 16.00％ (96 cases) by liquid-based cytology detection,and positive detection rate of pap ⅡB level and above lesions was 4.83 ％ (29 cases).The positive detection rate by liquid-based cytology was significantly higher than that of conventional cytology smears,the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Colposcopic and histopathological findings as the gold standard,cervical liquid-based cytology screening coincidence rate was 76.80％,conventional cytology smear screening coincidence rate was 38.16％,and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Liquid-based cytology screening for cervical squamous cell lesions is significantly superior to conventional cytology smears.
