Abstract
Static converters are predominantly present in variable speed electrical drive systems. Most applications include a three-phase bridge rectifier required to supply the inverter- motor set. The reliability of this three-phase rectifier as well as that of the inverter is of most importance. This paper addresses a diagnostic approach based on the mean value of the Park currents for detecting an open-circuit fault of an IGBT of a three-phase rectifier controlled by the SVM technique. In addition, a dimensioning procedure of the constituent elements of the filter is presented. The obtained results enable to illustrate the effectiveness and merits of the presented technique and the right choice of filter element values.
