Abstract

The dirty neck appearance is not a rare clinical entity in Korean women. It is manifested by brownish reticular patches consisting of mottled hyperpigmentation that is mainly located on the sun-exposed areas of neck and peripheral face with symmetrical distribution. In this study, we enrolled patients with similar manifestations and studied their histopathological findings with possible pathomechanisms. Differential diagnosis with pokiloderma of Civatte, Riehls melanosis or friction melanosis was also considered to make a final diagnosis.
