Abstract

A case of ruptured type 3 aortic dissection is reported, in which a biplane thoracic aorto-gram failed to show the abnormality while a contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan demonstrated the correct diagnosis. The value of CT scanning in diagnosing aortic dissections and atherosclerotic aneurysms of the thoracic aorta is discussed.
