Abstract

Pregnancy is physiological condition in women that occur alteration in oral cavity and other physiological changes in her body. The objective of this study is to report the oral diagnosis and management in pregnant woman. A 25-year-old woman complaining of gingival bleeding. The patient has had these complaints since the last 2 months. The patient admitted that her gingival bleed several times when using a toothbrush, but a few days ago the patient complained of bleeding gums when not in use for activities. The patient did not complain of any pain. Based on the results of subjective and objective examinations the diagnosis of the patient was gingivitis. Treatment planning for this patient was dental education emphasizing the oral condition during pregnancy and appropriate method for tooth brushing, scaling, control and evaluation. During pregnancy, dentists can perform dental and oral care, however must consider the protection of pregnant women and the developing fetus. The best time for treatment is in the second trimester. Care and maintenance of dental and oral health during pregnancy is an important part of overall health surveillance.
