Abstract
Objective To review the diagnosis and treatment of benign pneumoperitoneum in children.Methods 8 children with benign pneumoperitoneum were managed from Feb 2000 to Nov 2010,and their clinical data were retrospectively analyzed.Results All 8 cases underwent conservative treatment,which include fasting,antibiotics,nutritional support,peritoneocentesis,and intensive care,and recovered uneventfully.Conclusions The diagnosis of benign pneumoperitoneum relies mainly on the clinical symptoms,physical examination,abdominal X-ray,and peritoneocentesis.There is a need to rule out visceral perforation.Conservative treatment is thetreatment of choice.
