Diagnosis and treatment of 11 cases of solid pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas

Abstract

[Objective] To investigate the clinicopathologic features,treatment principal and factors influencing the prognosis of solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas.[Methods] The clinical data of 11 cases of solid pseudopallary tumor of the pancreas treated in our hospital from January 2005 to June 2011 were retrospectively analyzed.[Results] Among the 11 patients,2 cases out of 5 cases with pancreatic head tumor were treated with pancreatoduodenectomy,the other 3 cases underwent tumor resection(removal)surgery; 5 cases out of 6 cases of pancreatic body and tail tumor were treated with pancreatectomy,the other 1 case underwent pancreatic tail tumor resection combined with splenectomy.The followed up was obtained for all cases and the time was from 4 to 47 months,with a median of 13 months,1 patient developed local recurrence was reoperated.[Conclusions] Solid pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas occurs mainly in young women,operation is the main treatment method,the prognosis is good,and active operation can achieve good effect for patients with local recurrence or distant metastasis.
