Abstract
The first edition of<i>Diagnosis and Therapy of the Glaucomas</i>was published in 1961 and gained immediate widespread acceptance as the standard textbook and reference work in its field. The enlarged second edition will undoubtedly maintain this status. There are few revisions, but the original text has been supplemented wherever significant advances have occurred. Among the major additions are discussions of steroidinduced glaucoma and of the genetics and pharmacogenetics of chronic simple glaucoma. A section on gonioscopy, with specific case presentations, has been added to the appendix. The anatomy of the chamber angle and ciliary body is demonstrated by newer and more accurate electron micrographs. We are once again indebted to the authors for a precise, complete, and authoritative presentation of current knowledge in the field of glaucoma.
