Abstract

Clinical and hormonal findings and the results of therapy in 10 cases of anorchism are presented. Anorchism might be suspected on the basis of the following symptoms: lack of testicles and puberty, increased excretion of gonadotropins and decreased excretion of 11-deoxy-17-ketosteroids. The final diagnosis can only be established by laparotomy which would prove the absence of the testicles. If therapy was started before puberty or at the usual age of puberty, normal body proportions and full masculinization could be achieved; if, however, therapy was started at a later age, only full masculinization could be achieved.
