Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension in overweight and obese children is 14% and 33%, respectively. Additional information such as age, gender, and height needed to define hypertension in children. In addition, blood pressure measurement in obese children faces many challenges. Therefore, the diagnosis of hypertension in obese children needs to be carefully considered. Body weight reduction through diet management and physical activity remain the main management strategy for hypertension in obese children. Persistent hypertension after 6-12 months despite a healthy lifestyle needs additional medication.
