Abstract

Being a country with a small and open economy, the development potential of the Republic of Moldova largely depends on foreign trade, as a strategic point in the relaunch of the national economy. This article provides a broad analysis of the evolution of foreign trade by applying a complex system of indicators, to estimate the possible trade advantages and disadvantages of international markets, as well as the identification of some directions of action to improve the export positions of those goods of whose potential could be increased. The study focuses on the analysis of the data of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, related to foreign trade from 2000 to 2021. As a result of the research, the most advantageous fields related to foreign trade, both for export and import, were identified.
