Abstract
There are 3.2 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and an estimated 630,000 people have the condition, but do not know it. Complications of diabetes can affect people’s lives and ongoing health status. Diabetes UK aims to care for, connect with and campaign alongside, and on behalf of, all people affected by and at risk of diabetes. A short animated film on the website explains what is happening in the body with diabetes, which nurses can recommend to patients to help understand the condition. The link for professionals is useful for practitioners involved in providing care, with information on the competencies required.
