Abstract

The ligand properties of a stereochemically confined hydrotriphosphane have been explored with respect to diamagnetic group 10 transition metal centers (Ni(II), Pt(0)). For the latter metal insertion into the HP(P < )2 bond is observed and the resulting platinum hydride unit is remarkably stable being less reactive towards oxidation with molecular oxygen than the adjacent polyphosphorus scaffold.
