Abstract

With high penetration of Distributed Generations (DGs), finding the best location for DGs is one of the important issues. In this paper, optimal DG placement is developed in order to improve both power quality and active power losses of a distribution system. This paper is focused on voltage sag as a power quality issue. Therefore, reliability indices are utilized to model voltage sag impact on system performance. Voltage sag is investigated based on three reliability indices related to event time, sag energy and sag cost. Test results for the 45-bus system illustrate the performance of the presented model for finding the best DG location.
