Abstract

Each religious tradition has its own name for Hyang Ilahi. In general, the figure of Hyang Ilahi is commonly referred to as God, Allah, Gusti, dewa, and others. These names indicate the relationship and understanding of a particular society or community towards the Divine Being. This research using qualitative methods through literature study, field observations, and interviews aims to explain the understanding of divinity in Aluk To Dolo Religious tradition, especially the existence of Puang Matua. The results show that the Aluk To Dolo Religious tradition has a divine figure that they worship and praise, namely Puang Matua. Aluk To Dolo adherents always aim for unity with Puang Matua through all the rules of life that have been passed down by Puang Matua as norms that must be obeyed. In addition, they hope to be reunited and live with Puang Matua.
