Abstract

This turtorial deals with the design of devices such as varactors and inductors and circuits such as ring and LC oscillators. First, MOS varactors are introduced as a means of frequency control for low-voltage circuits and their modeling issues are discussed. Next, spiral inductors are studied and various geometries targetting improved Q or higher self-resonance frequencies are presented. Noisetolerant ring oscillator topologies are then described. Finally, a procedure for the design of LC oscillators is outlined.
