Abstract

In this study, a device for generating the two jets flapping synchronized in anti-phase with each other is proposed. This device is composed of the two channels, each of which has a cavity which induces the jet to flap at a high frequency of several tens of kHz. The cavities in the two channels are connected to each other through a slot to synchronize the flapping motions of the two adjacent jets. The jets created from the device are visualized by the schlieren method using a high-speed camera. The visualization results reveal that the two jets successfully flap in opposite phase to each other and a bow-shaped symmetric flow-structure is periodically generated from the device at several tens of kHz.
