Abstract

Programming devices have been developed which automate control of pouring liquid slag from slag ladles on units which process slag melts into granulated and expanded slag. Designers developed two variations of the devices: UPU-4, based on contact elements, and BUK-2, based on noncontact elements. During production, it was established that the quality of porous granulated slag is higher than the quality of normal dense slag. Automatic tilting of the ladles made it possible to reduce ladle turnaround, increase unit productivity by about 30-50%, reduce unit water and electric power consumption, and improve cleanliness of the work area and working conditions for personnel.
