Abstract

Exploratory activity in Washington declined. Four wells were drilled in the Grays Harbor area; none was successful. The only exploratory activity in Oregon was some leasing in the Coast Range south of Eugene. A deeper pool discovery at the Tule Elk field was the only significant new discovery in California. Several small gas discoveries were made in the Sacramento Valley. Development drilling in California nearly doubled the 1973 rate. Seismic activity increased onshore in the Sacramento and northern San Joaquin Valley and offshore south of the Santa Barbara Channel Islands where an OCS lease sale is expected in 1975.
