Abstract
Exploratory drilling in Texas Railroad Commission District 3 decreased in 1968, but new-field discoveries increased. The success ratio of all exploratory wells was 1:6. A total of 596 development wells was drilled, with a 69% success. The Eocene became the most actively explored trend in 1968 and continued to be the most successfully drilled trend. Seismic activity in both the onshore and offshore continued to decrease. There was an increase in exploratory drilling but a decrease in development drilling in the offshore.
