Abstract

Exploration and development drilling during 1962 within the confines of Railroad Commission District 3 of Texas is covered in this report. Although wildcat activity increased 11%, total drilling decreased 18% over 1961. This led to 17 new fields being added to the Upper Texas Gulf Coast. Principal wildcat and development activity was again confined to the Frio trend. The Cretaceous trend continued to gain interest with increased leasing and geophysical attention. Activity is expected to accelerate during 1963.
