Abstract

Exploratory drilling in the Panhandle District during 1958 was up 29% from 1957. The over-all exploratory success ratio of 34% reflects another banner year in the Anadarko basin where 41% of the exploratory wells established production. Development drilling emphasized the increasing importance of the deep gas from the Pennsylvanian reservoirs of the Anadarko basin. Exploration was active, but generally disappointing, in the Palo Duro and Dalhart basins.
