Abstract

Research on cognitive-behavioural approaches to the understanding and treatment of substance misuse and dependence are reviewed. Research evidence clearly demonstrates the efficacy of cognitive-behavioural approaches and its theoretical underpinnings. It is important that these results are incorporated into routine clinical practice.
