Abstract

Exploration for oil and gas in Alaska continued to increase. Drilling was confined largely to southern Alaska. Two holes were completed, and drilling of three was recessed over the winter months. Eight company geologic parties, one company seismic party, and three United States Geological Survey parties conducted field investigations during the summer. During the year, oil and gas leases were issued covering nearly 800,000 acres.
