Abstract

In this volume of The Journal, Greiner et al focus on young children who have entered the foster care system in Ohio, starting to parse out some of the differences in outcomes between non-relative foster family placements and kinship foster placements. These children's experience of abuse and neglect places them at higher risk for developmental delay, with Early Intervention services often indicated. This study identifies gaps in referrals for children who are delayed, but also frequent lack of completion of referrals that were placed, with more kinship caregivers declining services.
